I was so delighted to find your website. Powerful memories came flooding back. I was in SF in the 70's and attended many Monday Night Classes - and Sunday Morning services (in fact, I'm in the larger picture of your masthead pic of you sitting on the dias - (to your left) - I still have that issue of SF mag). I had just come from NYC, having spent the 60's in the tumult of radical politics, protesting, etc. - because in the midst of all that chaos and negativity, I'd heard wonderful descriptions of what you were doing and talking about. You were my Pied Piper - You were the beginning of my spiritual renewal - i.e. I could 'hear' your message - you spoke in a powerful hip vernacular about the most spiritual of issues - making them available to those of us who had tuned out anything that sounded 'religious,' which to us translated into powerless platitudes. When you finally left for the Farm, part of me ached to go with you - but in the end, I opted to stay at the SF Zen Ctr, with Suzuki Roshi (who you also turned me on to... thank you!). Just had to touch base here and tell you, with heartfelt gratitude, what a tremendous role you played, if only briefly, in my life. My world is a much better place because you were in it.
